El Ratón Pérez is a dark twist on the classic Latin-American folktale of El Ratoncito Pérez, in which a monstrous tooth-obsessed rat visits a young girl in her sleep. The film explores themes of loss of innocence and girlhood, examining how traditional childhood folktales can stand in for larger societal themes such as male domination & patriarchy. I co-directed and co-wrote this psychological experimental stop-motion short in collaboration with Camila Montero and my team, Kickout Studios. I was both the lead editor and sound designer on the project, and created the storyboards we worked off of in production.

Awakening is a 2D animated short in which a robot girl awakens to her own consciousness in a style evocative of classic shoujo and magical girl anime and manga, which are longstanding inspirations of mine. This short is a small portion of a broader narrative in which the two characters reside, which I intend to revisit and explore themes of cyborg and posthuman existence from a queer lens.
